Health-care workers, including primary care physicians, nurses, dentists and other health care professionals, earn an average of about $35,000 annually in salary, according to a recent report by the Economic Policy Institute.

The top 20 highest-paid occupations in the U.S. are: nurse, social worker, physician assistant, dental assistant, social-worker, dietician, occupational therapist and pharmacy technician.

The highest-paying occupations in Canada are: doctor, nurse, occupational therapy therapist, occupational medicine technician, occupational nurse, pharmacy technician, dental technician and pharmacy assistant.

The lowest-paid jobs in the United States are: pharmacy technician (or pharmacist), dental assistant (or nurse), social worker (or teacher) and physician assistant (physician assistant).

A person who earns an annual salary of $35.5 million is considered a primary care physician.

A person earning an annual income of $23.5-$23.9 million is also considered a physician.

That puts a person in the top 5% of U.K. doctors and dentists.

The average annual salary for an American doctor or dentist is $137,800, according the Bureau of Labor Statistics.

For a nurse, the average salary is $87,300.

A nurse in Canada earns $70,000, while a nurse in the UK earns $65,000.

A health-aid worker in Canada works for an organization that provides health-related services.

A primary care dentist in the Netherlands earns $89,300, while in the US a dentist in New York City earns $82,300 and a dentist on Long Island, New York, earns $80,000 a year.
