CAMPING — Clinton Health Mall will open this week in downtown Hartford, Connecticut, according to local officials and officials with the Clinton Health Association.
Clinton Health Mall is expected to open next month and will offer about 800 beds, according the ClintonHealth.com site.
The project will include more than 10,000 square feet of retail space and about 10,500 square feet for restaurants and a movie theater, said Bill Jankowski, president of the Clintonhealth.com, which manages the project.
Clinton Health Center is the largest indoor health care center in the United States, with an enrollment of about 12,000 people.
ClintonHealth will be in a former manufacturing plant that is expected be used for future offices, offices, retail, restaurants and more, Jankowsky said.
“This is not the first time we’ve had to move forward with an indoor health center in our state, but this is the first we’ve done it at such a scale,” Jankowsk said.
The Clinton Health center, which will be located on the former site of the New York City-based New England Medical Center, is expected not only to help people who are ill, but also provide them with access to high-quality care, Jinkowski said.
Clinton’s Health Center will have a long-term goal of providing high-performing health care to more than 8,000 patients annually, Jankski said.
More than 50 percent of the health care costs in the U.S. are paid for by insurance.
The ClintonsHealth.net website lists costs for all aspects of the project, including equipment and supplies, personnel, and other costs, such as staffing.
The project will require about $150 million in federal funding and about $300 million in private funding, Jinksowski said, and the project is expected close to completion.
